IXTAPA/ZIHUATANEJO
one of Mexico's best kept
secrets. Zee-hoo-watan-aye-ho unfolds from the foothills of the Sierra
Madre mountains on Mexico's tropical gold coast. A treasured venue to
tackle the snake dancing pez vella known to us as the indo pacific
sailfish. This is real Mexico with all the ambient charm enhanced by
painted skies and blessed with near perfect weather.
The sailfishing here is stunning and with balanced outfits a real joyride
of visual explosive action.
As the season progresses the armada of sails are joined offshore by a full
supporting cast of marlin, tunas, mahi mahi and wahoo. The inshore fishing
here can be phenomenal for our friend affectionately known as Zorro, Pez
gallo or roosterfish.
There are some huge roosters here. I read somewhere "fancy clothes don't
make a fightin' man" but this fish wears a dandy set of scales, a fancy
comb on its back and a mask.
Fights like hell so who do you
believe.........................also lives in some of the most
unspoiled wild beautiful places on the planet.
There is an array of other battlers inshore with various tunas, sierra
mackerel, groupers, snappers and the brutal yellowtail jacks.
A real heavy hitters line up of drag cooking, rod breaking, piscatorial
heartbreakers.
When one of this gang roar out of the surf and inhale your bait, lure or
fly hang onto your sombrero it is wild and the outcome is by no means
guaranteed........................ |
